This Privacy Policy explains how SQL Tutor ("the Platform", "we", "our") handles information when you use our interactive SQL learning application, playground sandbox, and curriculum courses. We prioritize transparent data handling and operate with minimal data collection principles.
2. Data Stored Locally and Execution Sandbox
SQL queries executed during exercises and practice challenges are run against an isolated local database (SQLite). Your exercise answers, schema investigations, and progress markers are recorded locally in your database instance and browser storage to allow progress resumption across sessions.

3. AI Tutoring Services and API Communication
When requesting assistance, explanations, or code hints from the AI tutor, relevant query context (such as your current lesson topic, SQL syntax error, or exercise prompt) is transmitted securely to Google Gemini API services. We do not transmit sensitive personal data or financial information.
If you provide your own Gemini API key via the settings interface, your key is stored locally in your private environment configuration and is used strictly for authenticated requests originating from your application instance.
4. Audio and Voice Interaction
Voice narration uses your operating system and browser Web Speech Synthesis interface. Microphone voice transcription uses the browser Web Speech Recognition interface directly on your client machine. Audio recordings are neither stored on our servers nor retained after speech transcription is complete.
5. Cookies and Client Storage
The platform utilizes browser localStorage solely for functional preferences: active theme (dark or light mode), audio narration toggles, and panel resizing dimensions. No third-party behavioral advertising cookies or cross-site tracking beacons are embedded.
6. Data Retention and Control
You maintain complete control over your learning data. You can reset practice databases to baseline records at any time using the in-app database reset utility. Clearing browser application cache and storage resets all client-side preferences immediately.
